The NGO’s school follows the same rules as Government schools, which means that it is open 10 months per year and is closed for the two-month summer vacation (May and June). The same dates for examinations and other official holidays are also followed.

The timetable is almost the same all over India:
In winter (November to February):
10.00am to 1.30pm (45min for lunch) 2.15pm to 4.30pm

In summer and the raining season (March to April and July to September):
- 7.30am to 9.30am (45mn for lunch) 10.15 to 12.30pm

Classes:
• Nursery school: one teacher for 30 children
• 1st class: one teacher for 22 children
• 2nd class: one teacher for 25 children
• 3rd class: one teacher for 30 children
• 4th class; one teacher for 18 children
• 5th class : one teacher for 20 children
• 6th class: one teacher for 15 children
• 7th class: one teacher for 20 children

Taught Subjects:
The eight teachers each focuses on a specific
subject to teach to the eight classes: Math, Hindi, English, Science, Drawing, Sanskrit, Sport, History/Geography.

Volunteer with GVMSS:

We welcome volunteers who would like to come stay in Jaisalmer and teach at our school. We have need of teachers at all grade levels and welcome all with a desire to help. Our students especially benefit from having English-speaking volunteers help them with their English skills. We can offer low-cost accomodations and the general cost of living in Jaisalmer is low.

Donate Money

GVMSS is dependent on the generosity of community members and donors abroad to continue its mission of educating poor and low-caste children. Donations cover the operating expenses of the school (rent, utilities, stipends for two teachers, and teaching supplies for the children), durable goods (floor mattresses for the children to sit, fans, blackboards, desks for teachers), and major capital expenditures (fixing the school building and roof after a major earthquake in 2008).
